On February 27, 2025, at approximately 8:00 AM, the Neelagiriya sacred Relics commenced their arraival from Kaduruwela Jayanthi Viharaya to Bukkiriyagolla Sri Sudharmarama Viharaya in Monaragala.
As part of today's religious observances, a Sambuddha Pooja and almsgiving were conducted by the monks of Nikawathalanda Viharaya, together with the teachers of Nikawathalanda Maha Vidyalaya and the local villagers. In the evening, a Gilanpasa Pooja was performed by the officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force Mahiyangana Camp, who also play a crucial role in the conservation efforts of the Neelagiri Dagoba by manufacturing all the bricks required for its restoration.
Despite the rain, a large number of devotees gathered to venerate the sacred relics of the Buddha, as the procession passed through along the 171-kilometer route Manampitiya, Aralaganwila, Mahiyanganaya, and Bibila, to Monaragala.
