On February 28, 2025, the Neelagiriya Sacred Relics were ceremoniously arraival from the Bukkakiriyagolla Rajamaha Viharaya to the Ampara Lahugala Divisional Secretary office. The sacred relics could not be brought to the Nilgiriya Archaeological Site today due to adverse weather conditions.
The day's religious observances began with morning and afternoon Sambuddha Poojas at the Bukkakiriyagolla Rajamaha Viharaya, where devotees gathered to pay their respects. Following these sacred rituals, the sacred relics commenced arraival to the Neelagiri Archaeological Site. In the evening, a Gilanpasa Pooja was conducted by the residents of Siyambalanduwa in Madugama, offering their reverence and blessings.
Despite the heavy rain, devotees lined the roadside to pay homage to the sacred relics, showcasing their unwavering devotion and deep reverence.
Although the public exhibition of the sacred relics and special antiquities was planned for tomorrow at the Neelagiriya Archaeological Site, arrangements have been made for the exhibition at the Ampara Lahugala Divisional Secretary office due to the weather conditions.
