Neelagiri Relics Procession – February 26, 2025

On February 26, 2025, the Neelagiri Sacred Relics were honored and venerated by a large gathering of local devotees and international visitors as they journeyed from Na Uyana Aranya Senasana to Jayanthi Viharaya in Polonnaruwa.

As part of this sacred pilgrimage, a noon pooja was conducted at Kanadana Sri Devarukkharama Viharaya in Galewela, providing devotees the opportunity to pay their respects. The relic procession then traveled through Galewela, Dambulla, Inamaluwa, Habarana, and Minneriya, reaching the Kaduruwela Jayanthi Viharaya at approximately 5:30 PM. In the evening, a Gilanpasa Buddha Puja was conducted, offering further reverence to the sacred relics.

On the morning of February 27, 2025, the procession will continue its journey toward the Bukkirigolla Rajamaha Viharaya in Monaragala, passing through Manampitiya, Aralaganwila, Dehiattakandiya, Mahiyanganaya, and Bibila. Devotees along the route will have the opportunity to venerate the relics as they make their way to their next destination.
