The official appointment ceremony for newly recruited Archaeological Assistants and watchers of the Department of Archaeology was held today (March 3) at the Head Office of the Department.
The event was conducted under the patronage of the Director General of Archaeology (Acting), Mr. E.A. Senarath Wickramasinghe. During the ceremony, appointment letters were presented to 52 Archaeological Assistants and 45 watchers.
The recruitment process was carried out under the supervision of the Additional Director General, Ms Thusitha N. W. Ranasinghe. An induction training programme for the newly appointed officers has been scheduled from 03 March 2026 to 06 March 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Coordinating Secretary to the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; Mr. Pemaratne Tennakoon; Mrs. E.D.P. Alwis, Chief Accountant of the Department of Archaeology; Mr. Prasanna B. Ratnayake, Director of Architectural Conservation; as well as several Assistant Directors of the Department of Archaeology.
