Deepaduththarama, situated at Kotahena in Colombo District in the Western Province, is the temple where Ven. Migettuwatte Gunananda Thero was residing in. This may be recognized as the worthy place which became the headquarters of the Buddhist revival in the 19th century as the place where the Five Great Debates, being one of them the Panadurawada were held and won.
The inner parts of the wall of the Vihare was being damaged due to seeping of rainwater forming cracks and holes on the walls and drain system connected to the pantheon walls of the front roof of the image house. The maintenance work of the same was commenced on 04.03.2024. The raw material for the maintenance work was supplied by the Chief Incumbent Thero of the Vihare and the employees of the Department of Archaeology carried out the maintenance work.
