believe that King Kavantissa, who built the temple complex, also built this pond,

because of the great connection between the lion mouth spout of the pond and the
pillar with a lion mouth, which was recently discovered in the Kimbulawela temple

               complex.

II. That it was done by Prince Siri Vallabha

There is another opinion about this that Prince Siri Vallabha, who ruled the Atadahas

Rata of Ruhuna in the twelfth century (1132-1153 AD), made Queen’s Pond of the
Udundora for his wife Sugala Devi.

III. That it was done by Prince Saddhatissa

Another opinion about Galabedda Queen’s Pond says that it was built by Prince

Saddhatissa, the second son of King Kavantissa. He had to stay at Galabedda, when

he travels from Magama to develop Digamudulla. At that time. It is said that this pond
was built by him to bath his wife Sugala Devi (Rathnayaka, 2008).
