                                                This  paper  presents  preliminary  results  of  limited  excavations
                                                undertaken  at  Kirinda,  a small  Early  Historic site situated on the
                                                coast in southeastern Sri Lanka. The primary objective of this paper
                                                is to establish the site‘s sedimentological and cultural phasing based
