Obverse |
A Copper Massa (king Sahassamalla) coin. The coin features a design encircled by a pattern of concentric circular dots. Central to this design is a stylized depiction of an individual, adorned in a garment resembling a dhoti, facing towards the left and positioned atop a lotus stalk. This figure is wearing a headdress. The left hand, elevated at the elbow, is depicted holding a flower, with five dot marks placed below the elbow on the left arm. Below the right hand is a mark, characterized by its narrow shape and downward curve. |
Reverse |
The coin depicts a stylized figure, positioned with his head oriented towards the left. The rear of the head is adorned with a two-part headdress. Held within the left palm of this seated figure is a conch shell, positioned in front of the face. Inscribed below this hand is the phrase " Srimath Sahassamalla," rendered in the Ardha Nagari script. The figure's right hand is placed upon the knee of his bent right leg, with the hand distinctly showing up to five fingers. Encircling the perimeter of the coin is a dotted border. |
